Rating: Great camera cheaply made
I 1st bought the MinoHD in black and it took great videos but the case showed every specification of fingerprint and looked really bad. I traded it in for a white UltraHD to get the longer record time and the replaceable battery and really like the camera. But, I just returned from a fishing trip and must have had DEET or something on my hands because the plastic case on the camera is ruined. You also must be cautious of the fragile looking at window. It isn’t glass and scratches easily. Invest in a good padded case to help preserve the camera. Otherwise it’s a good part of equipment and we got many great videos of our trip.

Rating: Ultra HD has battery charging problems.
I got the camera from Amazon. Takes nice videos. I plugged it into the usb port to charge the battery. With in 30 seconds I got a message on the screen that said”charging paused, check battery pack” The camera was only a week old. I called and clarified what happened. The buyer service rep was very polite and said he’ll send a substitute.The substitute came in only two days. Is a great company to do business with. Back to the camera! This one also has the same problem. I did a search on Google and learned that the Flip super HD has a charging problem. You get a message saying ” charging pause check battery pack” and another message saying, battery over heating.I did not get that message caused by the fact my battery did not charge long enough for this to happen. I called Flip and got two different solutions. Take out the battery and let it totally discharge and put it back and charge it. I’m still waiting for it to discharge. The other tech said,take out the battery,plug the camera into the usb port,wait , then put the battery into the camera while it’s still plugged in. That on did not work. It sounds as if Cisco which now is the parent company of Flip know about this problem. I feel they should be sure the issue with the super HD is fixed and all the customers with this problem are pleased with a substitute battery that will charge.

Rating: Good value for money
This is a simple, “No frills” high def recording device. You do not get auto concentrate, you do not get optical zoom digital zoom, what you do get is a easy to use product that records MP4 movies implying that there’s no conversion needed, just copy over the files and play in quicktime in remarkable enough detail to be viewable in glorious detail. Much better than you’d get on a miniDV tape device and I have surely been able to splice together satisfactory material for YouTube/Vimeo.

The usability is as simple as it gets: switch on, record, stop, you may be able to view back, delete, that is it.

Ideal handling could be general scenes, landscapes, cityscapes, etc. Don’t think about taking close ups since the concentrate is fixed. The aperture is a large f2.8 giving you good coverage, but again because this is fixed you aren’t going to get much in the depth of field. The Canon 50D MkII it isn’t, but then again you’re paying $180 for a simple, directly to the point HD recorder.

This is great gadget to have in a bag to carry round, maybe a bit too bulky to have in pockets, but small enough to carry in laptop bag, backback, etc. You aren’t going to be able to produce feature films although I could not put this past someone to try. You’re to get what you pay for so for my money this is good value.

This little video camcorder is cool. Easy to use and great videos in a small package. Quickly download your videos to you computer, and the software that comes in the Flip make editing your videos easy. Had free shipping and it arrived at my door in just two days.

This is an absolutley great product. My wife uses it every day to record short videos and we couldn’t be happier with the quality. The HDMI commections is great. Wish is came with the cable HDMI mini to HDMI.
